Habitat Norway is a Norwegian non governmental organisation with the overall aim to promote the interest and awareness of settlement issues around the world. The organisation was established in order to put settlement issues on the Norwegian Development Policy Agenda. Habitat Norway is a member of the Habitat International Coalition.

The organisation was founded in 1988 as a result of the activities carried out during the International Year of Shelter for the Homeless. The organisation is attached to the Norwegian Branch of International Federation of Housing and Planning, and is open to all professionals; it has members representing many different disciplines such as architecture, engineering, sociology, human geography, and social anthropology. The activities consist mainly of lectures and seminars, sometimes in cooperation with other organisations. Habitat Norway arranges a seminar in October each year in celebration of the World Habitat Day.

Attac vil orientere om deres nye forslag til omstrukturering av pensjonsfondet til fordel for en mer framtidsrettet miljøtenkning. Har vi råd til ikke å være visjonære, spør de, og foreslår at investeringene deles i tre hoveddeler med henholdsvis globalt miljøfokus, infrastruktur og utvikling i Sør.
Vi spør hvordan byutvikling i Sør kan være en del av en slik visjon og inviterer til debatt.

Tema fro møtet:

1. Bistandsminister Erik Solheim er også vår nye miljøvernminister; han ønsker å kople bistand og miljø.Vi tar ham på ordet, og snakker om hva en slik kopling kan innebære i et tverrfaglig perspektiv? Dette vil bli tema for Habitatdagen 2008, og vi vil diskuterer hvordan vi bør jobbe langsiktig frem mot et bredt program for denne dagen.

2. Seniorrådgiver Erik Berg i UD presenterer UDs posisjonsnotat "Byer - håp og utfordringer; om byutvikling og
internasjonalt samarbeid".

3. Siv.ark Annika Berdal introduserer "Arkitekter uten grenser". Habitatdagen 2007 etterlyste jobbmuligheter ute for bl.a. arkitekter, og vi diskuterer en mulig link til Architects without borders; se http://www.awb.iohome.net/
